Mint Component & Neuroprotective Properties

April 27, 2012

Mint was studied by Lou et al  to evaluate if it has brain protecting properties.  The results of their studies identified Linarin, a component of Mint.  Additionally they found that Linarin:

  • Prevents neuro-toxicity (protection against artificial toxic substances).
  • Inhibits acetylcholinesterase activity – increasing both the level and duration of action of neurotransmitter acetylcholine and its resistance to disease (Alzheimer’s).

  • The results suggest a possibility that linarin from Mint may be a therapy against Alzheimer’s disease acting through both acetylcholinesterase inhibition and neuro-protection.

Mint is a key component of Natural Health Drinks that The Wise Herb Company make.

Recommendation: To take advantage of this particular property try YOUNG&FUN which will help complement healthy ageing and brain function.  YOUNG&FUN is packed with antioxidants and contains MINT as a key ingredient.
