Cinnamon & Sugar Control

A review of the research data at Edinburgh University (Akilen et al) have shown that the use of cinnamon produces a beneficial effect on glycaemic (sugar) control and the short term (<4 months) effects of the use of cinnamon on glycaemic control looks promising. The evaluation was conducted on data from the earliest possible date through to 01 August 2011.
Cinnamon seems to be highly bioactive, appearing to mimic the effect of insulin through increased glucose uptake in adipocytes (fat cells) and skeletal muscles.
