Ginger & Arthritic Pain

July 19, 2012

Arthritic pain was evaluated using the visual analogue scale (VAS) with Ginger oral treatments by Drozdov et al.

Results suggest that Ginger could provide relevant and significantly lowered pain on a VAS scale both on standing and moving. The ginger combination is as effective as diclofenac – a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug – but safer in treating osteoarthritis, because it does not have a negative effect on the stomach mucosa.

The increased mucosal Prostaglandin synthesis in the ginger treatment group suggests an increased mucosa-protective potential.

Ginger is a key ingredient in The Wise Herb Company range of products.
