Ginger and Anti-Cancer Benefits
Ginger and Anti-Cancer Benefits
The objective of a study by Plengsuriyakarn et al was to investigate the cytotoxicity, toxicity, and anticancer activity of an extract of ginger (Zingiber officinale) against a certain type of cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma).
Ginger: A key ingredient of the functional health drinks from The Wise Herb Company
Various controlled trails were conducted in an animal model system. Results from these in vitro and in vivo investigations indicate that Ginger may have anticancer activity in this type of cancer. There was also absence of significant toxicity.
The results suggest that Ginger and/or its components could have some therapeutic role in cancer treatments (particularly in Cholangiocarcinoma). Cholangiocarcinoma is a cancerous (malignant) growth in one of the ducts that carries bile from the liver to the small intestine.
