Neem: Immunological Non-Toxic potential against Cancer

Mallick et al evaluated the toxicity profile of a unique immunomodulator from neem leaf – glycoprotein in an animal model system. The Neem component caused no behavioral changes and no death.

Results indicated that the Neem glycoprotein induces proliferation of mononuclear cells amongst other immunological changes and could induce an anti-tumor immune environment that results in the restriction of carcinoma growth.

 

The investigators conclude that accumulated evidence strongly suggests the non-toxic nature of the Neem glycoprotein and could be recommended for human use in anti-cancer therapy.
