Green Tea & Ginger fight against fat
Green Tea and Ginger have both been investigated recently in terms of their ability to positively affect obesity.
An investigation by Mahmoud & Elnour was conducted to evaluate the effect of ginger and orlistat (Orlistat is a pharmacological agent promoting weight loss) on an animal model (fed a high fat diet).

The results showed that Treatment with both ginger and orlistat had significant effect in reducing body weight. Both ginger and orlistat had the ability to reduce lipid profile, ginger had great effect in increasing HDL-cholesterol.
They conclude that Ginger has significant ability to reduce body weight without inhibiting pancreatic lipase level, or affecting bilirubin concentration, with positive effect on increasing peroxisomal catalase level and HDL-cholesterol.
A study on cell lines by Lee et al looked at (-)Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a Green Tea polyphenol, and its anti-obesity and anti-adipogenic (anti-fat producing) effects.
The results suggest that EGCG treatment down-regulates the expression of major genes involved in the adipogenesis (fat cell initiation) pathway.
These data suggest that the anti-obesity effects of EGCG are, at least partially, dependent on a gene signaling pathway.
