Maintaining a healthy weight with InnOrbit’s Slim&Fit

In this article we take a look at two ingredients used in the InnOrbit drink SLIM&FIT and how they can potentially control and help to maintain a healthy weight.

The key ingredients in question are Caralluma fimbriata and Garcinia.

Caralluma fimbriata:

There is increasing evidence from investigators that food plant C. fimbriata  suppress appetite and can provide anti-obese and metabolic benefits.

The anti-obese effects of Caralluma fimbriata (CF) were evaluated in animal model systems by monitoring changes in feed intake, body weight and serum lipid amongst other assays.

CF induced significant and dose-dependent inhibition of food intake, with dose-related prevention of gains in body weight, liver weight, and fat pad mass.

Alterations in serum lipid profiles associated with weight gain were similarly inhibited, as were the typical increases in serum leptin levels. The data support CF’s reported weight controlling effects. The data also suggest  that CF treatment also helped to protect against atherogenesis.

In a separate study, and reported in the journal Appetite, Caralluma fimbriata was assessed in overweight individuals by a placebo controlled randomized trial. During the trial blood glucose and lipids were measured and body measurements taken as well as dietary intake and assessment of appetite.

Waist circumference and hunger levels over the investigation period showed a significant decline in the experimental group when compared to the placebo group.

The results suggest that Caralluma Fimbriata appears to suppress appetite, and reduce waist circumference when compared to placebo over a 2 month period.

Garcinia:

Amin et al, studied the effect of Garcinia in model systems.

They fed rats high levels of High Sugar (HS) and High Fat (HF).  Measurements showed concomitant higher Body weight (BW) and body mass index (BMI) with these diets.   The investigators demonstrated that Garcinia could decrease the oxidative stress biomarkers and increase NO (Nitric oxide) levels.

Rats fed a diet with HF or HS showed, hypertriglyceridemia (higher triglyceride leves), increased lipid production, increased oxidative stress and renal alteration.  Garcinia ameliorated the damaging effects of the HF or HS and decreased feed intake, MDA level and decreased oxidative stress in renal tissues.

In another study reported in the  journal Bioscience, Biotechnology & Biochemistry researchers studied the effects of Garcinia on the mRNA levels of the various genes involved in adipogenesis (the formation of fat cells), as well as on body weight gain, visceral fat accumulation, and other markers of obesity in model systems.

Results showed that Garcinia lowered the body weight gain, visceral fat accumulation, blood and hepatic lipid concentrations, and plasma insulin and leptin levels in a high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity model.

The data suggest that the Garcinia can improve obesity effects, probably by modulating multiple genes associated with adipogenesis.
