Functional foods with digestion-enhancing properties

There is a substantial body of data in support of their digestion-enhancing activities of various plants, herbs and spices.  They can be mainly divided into three groups: bitter, aromatic and pungent plants.

Amongst the most important we can find ginger, peppermint, and fennel, etc., and many more that have a significant body of support experimental data available.
