Calm&Relax: Recovery after exercise and sport

January 30, 2012

Antioxidants can help with muscle pain & recovery:

There are certain ingredients in the InnOrbit infusion range that  will help with muscle recovery.  Ginger, for example, has been shown to ease muscle pain caused by exercise-induced muscle injury.

Antioxidants in general are good for easing the inflammation and oxidative stress that is caused by intense sport or even or stroll along the beach.  InnOrbit’s Calm&Relax is packed with antioxidants and besides mopping up free radicals will help you to relax and soothe sleep.  Remember SLEEP is important in the recovery process too!

Hydration!

Water is essential for performance and recovery.  After a hard work out or even a long walk in hot weather you can suffer from dehydration. Excess fluid intake however is not good either!  Elite competitors, however, do tend to not drink enough water during competition.  You can drink an infusion hot and we also designed some cold drink recipes using fruit juices for the summer. Tasty solutions for Hydrating throughout the year.

“add pure lemon juice (to taste) to the Calm&Relax infusion and leave to cool in the fridge overnight – Easy!”

As a rule of thumb:  finish a workout with no more than about 2% body weight loss, and definitely no weight gain.

Weight loss in excess of 2% of body weight will probably equal performance decline.

Carbohydrate Plus Protein Speeds Recovery:
Sports Nutrition research has indicated that a mixture of protein and carbohydrate within thirty minutes of exercise aids insulin response, which results in more stored glycogen.

Optimal carbohydrate to protein ratio to maximise stored glycogen is 4:1 (four grams of carbohydrate for every one gram of protein).

Good luck with New Years Resolutions and exercise plans for 2012!
