Liquorice and Neuro-protection

Glycyrrhizin, a component of Liquorice, was investigated by Kim, et al.
Results suggest that Glycyrrhizin has neuro-protective functionality via its anti-inflammatory, anti-excitotoxic, and anti-oxidative effects. Results strongly suggest that it has significant anti-inflammatory effect, at least in part, by inhibiting HMGB1 secretion (a mediator in inflammation).
