Green Tea and Alzheimer’s Disease Therapy

Lopez Del Amo et al, studied the green tea compound epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG).  They demonstrated that it can inhibit Alzheimer’s disease β-amyloid peptide (Aβ) neurotoxicity.

They demonstrated that EGCG-induced Aβ oligomers to adopt a well-defined structure and interferes with the aromatic hydrophobic core of Aβ.

The structural analysis of small-molecule-induced amyloid aggregates potentiates drug development for Alzheimer’s disease therapies.
