Licorice Extract Decreases Transaminase Activities in Liver Disease: Clinical Trial

February 11, 2012

The presence of elevated transaminases, commonly the transaminases alanine transaminase (ALT) and aspartate transaminase (AST), may be an indicator of liver damage.

In a study by Hajiaghamohammadi, Ziaee and Samimi they demonstrated significant reduction in the above liver enzymes following administration of licorice root extract.  The data suggests that there could be an element of liver protection given by licorice compounds.

They recommend further studies but this could be more good news for InnOrbit Infusion drinkers.
