Neem: Potential Anti-Cancer functionality

February 18, 2012

Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), an oncogenic (Tending to cause or give rise to tumors) signaling factor plays a critical role in the development and progression of various cancers.

The objective of research by Kavitha et al, was to investigate the effect of nimbolide, a neem (Azadirachta indica) derived tetranortriterpenoid on NF-κB signaling

Results demonstrate that nimbolide concurrently annuls NFκB and Wnt signaling and induces apoptosis.

These data suggest that phytochemicals such as nimbolide can target multiple steps along the NFκB signaling circuit and are promising candidates for future phytochemical-based mechanistic pathway targeted anticancer regimens.

Neem is a key InnOrbit Ingredient in their functional drinks
