Exercise and the antioxidative status of human skin
The influence of endurance exercise on the antioxidative status of human skin was studied by Vierck et al, (European journal of applied physiology, Feb 14, 2012).
Sport in general has predominantly positive effects on the health of humans especially with regards to cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
However, the results of this work suggest that above a certain threshold, physical exercise leads to oxidative stress in the skin associated with the decrease in antioxidant concentration.
This gives rise to the impairment of the first defence line of the skin and means an increase in the risk of sun exposure-induced damage.
