Ginger component decreases production of Reactive Oxygen Species (polyps)

Results from a study by Park et al indicate that [6]-Gingerol, from Ginger, decreased the production of reactive oxygen species in Nasal polyp fibroblasts.

Myofibroblast differentiation, collagen production, and other key biochemical processes were prevented by the antioxidant activity of [6]-gingerol.

These data suggest the potential of [6]-gingerol in inhibiting the production of extracellular matrix (ECM) accumulation in the development of nasal polyps through an antioxidant effect.
