Stomach protective effect of Lemongrass

April 28, 2012

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) is a plant used in medicinal treatments in various cultures against chronic health conditions.   It is particularly popular for stomach ache and gastric ulcer treatments.

Investigations by Fernandes et al, validated the use of  Lemongrass in experimental models of gastric ulcers and elucidated its mechanisms in gastroprotection.

The results of this study revealed that Lemongrass has an anti-ulcer effect.  Data from their experiements confirmed the traditional use of Lemongrass for the treatment of gastric ulcers.  They provide evidence that Lemongrass reduces gastric damage by mechanisms that involve endogenous prostaglandins.  Prostaglandins are locally acting messenger molecules that have various functions among which are their ability to control inflammation, increase protective functions within the stomach and decrease acidity in the stomach.

Lemongrass is a key ingredient used in the natural products made by The Wise Herb Company: CALM&RELAX, SLIM&FIT, UP&GO, YOUNG&FUN
