Epidemiological and clinical studies indicate that Green Tea is associated with reducing the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. Catechins are the major poyphenolic constituents of Green Tea and seem to exert cardioprotective effects via various mechanisms. The research suggests that dietary consumption of Green Tea has beneficial health effects on blood pressure and fat levels and biochemistry. Islam adds that further rigorous assessment of the effects of Green Tea catechins will be required for better understanding of the effects of green tea in cardiovascular health.
