Green Tea & Weight Control

The development of obesity can lead to diseases such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus and coronary heart disease. Recent data from human studies indicate that the consumption of Green Tea may help to reduce body weight by increasing postprandial thermogenesis and fat oxidation.

In a randomized double blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over pilot study by Boschmann & Thielecke energy expenditure and substrate oxidation were assessed.

Their findings suggest that catechins from Green Tea (EGCG) have the potential to increase fat oxidation may contribute to the anti-obesity effects of Green Tea. Green Tea is a key ingredient of The Wise Herb Company range of healthy natural products.
