Liquorice and potential Anti-Cancer properties
Yang et al recently have studied liquorice and note that its components may enhance an anti-cancer drug effect.
They studied liquorice component effects on apoptosis in ovarian cancer cells.
The results suggest that 18β-glycyrrhetinic acid, a liquorice component, may potentiate induced apoptosis in ovarian carcinoma cell lines via the activation of various key cellular processes.
Yang and the team suggest that a combination of Hsp90 inhibitors (drugs) and the liquorice compound may confer a benefit in the treatment of epithelial ovarian adenocarcinoma.
