Neem and Mouth Hygiene

October 20, 2012

Microbial plaque is one of the main causes for periodontal tissue inflammation (Gingivitis or inflammation of the gums).

Many current treatments are associated with side effects that prohibit regular use. The effectiveness of Neem (Azadirachta indica) against plaque formation was studied by Elavarasu et al to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of Neem. Neem oil was kept in the agar plate with culture and the diameter of inhibition zones was calculated.

The results showed inhibition zones on the agar plate around neem oil suggesting that Neem could have anti-plaque activity.

Neem is a key ingredient of the Natural Infusion CALM&RELAX – a perfect last drink of the day to soothe natural sleep.
