Protective effect of Cinnamon Polyphenols against Diabetes

A study by Li et al was designed to investigate the potential effects of cinnamon polyhenols in treating diabetes in an animal model fed a high-sugar & high-fat diet.

The pathological damage in islet with pancreatic beta cells was shown to be ameliorated by treatment of cinnamon polyhenols at different doses.

These data show that cinnamon polyhenols can exert hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effects and could be associated with repairing pancreatic beta cells improving their anti-oxidative capacity.
