Hibiscus Sabdariffa Attenuates the Progression of Renal Injury

November 26, 2012

Hibiscus sabdariffa is a wild plant with antioxidant and other health giving properties. Hibiscus has been shown in several studies to reduce the severity of the multi-organ injury and help with conditions such as hypertension and diabetic nephropathy.

In an animal model study, Seujange et al determined if Hibiscus could help modulate the progression of chronic kidney disease.

The results suggest that via antihypertensive and/or antioxidant properties, Hibiscus was able to attenuate the progression of renal injury. The workers suggest that Hibiscus should be considered as one of the new, promising drugs that can be used to attenuate the progression of Chronic Kidney Disease.

Hibiscus is a key ingredient used by InnOrbit in The Wise Herb Company portfolio of natural products.
