Mechanism: Licorice and its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulation effects

June 14, 2013

Liquorice (licorice) has been used in traditional medicines like Ayurveda for treatment of many diseases, including inflammations and immunological disorders.

Studies by Fu et al suggest that the anti-inflammatory and immunomodulation activities of liquorice are due to its active component, glycyrretinic acid (GA). They suggest a potential mechnism for these positive health effects.

Their results suggest that GA blocks Kv1.3 channels, which probably helps to explain its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulation effects.

The handcrafted recipe of up & go contains liquorice which helps with energising your day and helping with strengthening immunity.
